Fifty First Week

This week was not very fun for Mommy and Daddy. We both worked everyday, and then went straight to our new house to paint. Therefore Aleenah was at her grandparents houses a lot. WE barely got to see her. She was also still getting over this awful cough this week, it was a very deep and raspy cough. She went to the doctors on Wednesday, but they said it was just viral and that their was not much that could be done.
The afternoon after her doctors appointment, Alee went back to the babysitters. When we picked her up she was starting to seem a lot more like herself.
At the pace she is going, I think Alee will be a lot like me. I did not walk until I was a year and a half, but I was very talkative and smart. I really do hope she walks soon, but I know that she will develop at her own pace. Her vocabulary is getting bigger and it is always very entertaining when she comes out with a new word.
We are almost done painting, next week will be a lot of Mommy/Daddy-Alee time. It will be much needed.

Fiftieth Week

On Sunday this week we had a lovely visit from Auntie Karen, Uncle Corey and Alee's boyfriend Justin. They came over for some lasagna, and afterward the kids just played while we just chit chatted. It was nice to relax as this week was pretty hectic, Alee went to both sets of grandparents a lot, as we had to paint the house we are moving to.
Alee also started daycare this week, as mommy started work. Everyday that she goes she cries as soon as I drop her off, but I guess she stops as soon as I leave. It was hard at first, as she never usually cries, but it was all very new to her. For the first few days she barely ate, but by Friday she seemed to be settling in just fine. Her babysitter is Bev Burgess, and cousin Eric, and little Ivy also go there. So Alee is surrounded by family which is nice.
Alee is still not crawling, although she is getting very close. She is sick again, so like usual she has been sleeping a lot. Hopefully she gets better next week.

Forty Ninth Week

This week was fairly boring. Aleenah did not too much. The usual; eat, sleep, bathroom, repeat. She was coming down with a cold, so we tried to stay home as much as we could. I am going back to work next week, so we also stayed home so that we could enjoy some Mommy and baby time.
The Olympics were on, so that was really fun to watch.
Aleenah has also discovered a new way to use her facecloth, she played peek a boo with the cats, the dog and everyone else in the house. She thought she was pretty funny, we thought she was pretty cute. It is definitely going to be hard to leave her with a babysitter starting next week, but she will be with Eric, so she will most likely be just fine.
Her method of getting around is still with her bum, and she still has no desire to try and stand up. The doctor says she is developing differently then others, but that it is of no concern.
Next week will be Alee's first day at daycare, I hope it goes well!

Forty Eight Week

This week was Aleenah's first Valentine's Day. We went and spent it with our friends Evan and Rebecca, and their two daughters Natalie and Emma. We had a lovely dinner, and Alee got to play with some new toys. I'm sure these three girls will be good friends, as Aleenah is right in between them for age.
We also went and visited Gramma Hughes and Eric on Monday. Eric and Alee had their usual bath, they are so funny. Gramma now tells them to stop splashing, then counts them down and says GO and they just start splashing even harder.
Other than that Alee and mommy mostly relaxed at home, bumming around the house in her pajamas until 2 in the afternoon most days. She's also officially been switched to milk, and she seems to really like it.
She is still getting around on her butt, by scooting... the crawling just may never come.

Forty Seventh Week

This week was quite boring, we spent the majority of it at home, doing what we do best... relaxing. Aleenah had a few nights where she woke up around midnight, but she would sleep in until 11:00am the next day, so she made up her sleep.
On Tuesday we once again went to Stephanie, Riley and Ella's to play. Aleenah was standing by herself, for 15 seconds at a time, that was really exciting. She is also starting to almost crawl, she is finally getting her leg back... but sometimes she face plants which makes her give up. I;m sure it will not be much longer now.
Other than that, we did a little bit of shopping and we sold a lot of Alee's clothes that she has outgrown. That money is going into her saving, and she's made quite a bit in just one week.
On Thursday we went to Melise's house, and we watched Vampire Diaries, and Survivor. Alee was super good, as always, just playing on the floor. Although she did cry when Melise's pig came by... he was pretty scared of her as well.
Next week is Valentine's day, Alee has the perfect outfit!! Should be another fun first holiday.

Forty Sixth Week

We finally decided to put Aleenah back in her crib, after a long time sleeping in her playpen (due to the Storkcraft recall). We had tried a few times before and she was always sticking her feet out the sides, but after properly tucking her in under the blankets, we are no longer running into this problem.
Once again we went to Stephanie's to hang out with her, Riley and Ella. Aleenah had a blast, we usually get there after all their naps, that way they are all ready to play. She has a few toys that Alee does not have, like big blocks... we might need to get her some for her birthday.
This week Aleenah also worked on her scooting skills, had baths and the most fun of all... we had Eric over for the whole day on Friday. Alee and Eric had a great time playing, and it's so nice to see Eric with her, he just loves his "Leena" (as he calls her). Still no signs of crawling or walking, maybe she will before her first birthday, maybe not, we will see.

Forty Fifth Week

This week was a really fun week, Aleenah got to see her cousin Maya and her boy-friend Riley. On Monday evening Aleenah, daddy and mommy all went to Volleyball. Daddy plays with his cousin Jimmy, and he brought his little family along too. So Maya, and Alee (who are only 3 weeks apart) got to see each other and play. Aleenah really enjoyed Maya's toy phone, so after volleyball we went and bought Alee the same one. She brings it with her to every room of the house and really seems to enjoy the music it makes.
On Tuesday we went over to Stephanie's (a friend from mommy's work) and visited with her, her little boy Riley and her niece Ella. Alee had a ball, she played and really seemed to enjoy it there. It's good to know that down the road if we need a babysitter or daycare she is available and really good with her.
Other than that the week has been fairly quiet, Aleenah is still getting around by scooting on her bum. She is so adorable, but we definitly can not even leave her for a few seconds, she just gets into everything. She played with Vollie and the kitties, and of course with her daddy, it's nice to have a somewhat quiet week with the family. I wonder how busy next week will be...

Forty Fourth Week

This week was pretty special, on Saturday it was mommy and daddy's anniversary. Aleenah got to celebrate with us at our friends Monique and Joe's wedding. It was a great time, with all our friends, and Alee was great the whole time. I don't think she cried once during the whole day. She did however almost fall asleep in the ceremony. We had a whole corner set up with toys for her at the reception, it looked like her own little playroom. Aleenah left around 7:30pm and went to Grandma and Grandpa Hughes for the night, while mommy and daddy had an anniversary night out.
On Sunday we went to Kelsey's for dinner, with Grandma and Grandpa. It was nice to go out for dinner with them, and just not have to think about making a meal. Other than that our week was very uneventful. We are all still patiently waiting for Aleenah to crawl, but she has not yet.
Everyone says she will just get up and go one of these days, maybe that day will be in the next few weeks...

Forty Third Week

Still no crawling, but Alee still manages to get around quite well. She just scoots on her butt, and if she is on her tummy she slithers backwards. Either way, she always makes it to where she wants to go somehow. This week was a quiet week at home, hanging out with the animals. Aleenah just loves to play with Vollie, she is now starting to roll Vollie's ball, and Vollie goes and fetches it. They are so cute to watch together. Alee also like to brush the kitties hair, and is always pulling on their tails.
Another thing Aleenah enjoys is books. We've tried giving her board books, but she prefers regular paper books. She wears them as hats, and we often find her jibber jabbering as if she were reading them to us.
Even though she is still not crawling, I definitly think she is developping at a normal pace, she is very smart. She loves to wave hello and goodbye, she can say many words like: dada, kitty cat, doggie, and a few more. It's wonderful to see her grow, everyday something new.

Forty Second Week

On Saturday we visited Great Grandma Marie and Great Grandpa Lorne, they live about an hour and a half away. Alee had a lot of fun at their house, playing on the floor, and watching old movies.
Other than that is was a pretty uneventful week for Alee. She is still not crawling, or walking and does not show any desire to as well. We finally got the pieces to fix Alee's crib (storkcraft recall), but she does not seem to want to sleep in it anymore. She has always slept 10-12 hour nights, and she is now waking up in the middle of the night. So we decided to put her back in the playpen, and she slept perfectly once more. I am not too sure what to do because when she does sleep in the crib her legs get stuck in the bars, and she wakes up stuck and in pain. Therefore, for now the playpen is our best option, or sleeping on daddy.
Other than that Alee spent her week playing, eating, sleeping... the usual. We even had Eric over, they had matching pajamas, it was very cute. You can definitely tell they are related.
Hopefully next week shows more promise towards crawling, and walking... all in good time I guess.

Forty First Week

A new year begins this week, so exciting to ring in 2010 with little Alee. Aleenah's first New Year celebration was spent with Grandma and Grandpa Hughes, and mommy and daddy. We played cards, and Jenga at Grandma's and watched the countdown. Alee was sleeping until about ten minutes before the countdown, she woke up just on time to celebrate the New Year. Last year was quite eventful for our little family, and we are all excited to see what this new year has in store for us.
This week was also very exciting for Alee, because she got to meet her uncle Raph for the first time. Uncle Raph does not have any kids, but he was really good with Alee. She was really recognizing him by the end of the week. Everytime he would walk in she would clap her hands, it was really cute.
On Sunday we were leaving to go shopping, when in front of the house their was people on the street. We did not know what was going on at first, but after a few minutes we realized it was the Olympic Torch making it's way through Woodstock. It was nice to see that, and to be able to experience that with Alee.
The rest of the week was pretty much the same as every other, spent with just mommy and Alee hanging out around the house, and playing. I have a feeling this month will be alot of relaxing time, as December was pretty busy.
